First Ride Review of the Specialized Crux Elite X1

I will be Cyclocross racing this season (first race in 2 days) and am a newbie to bike racing. So, I spent some time test riding different bikes and finally settled on the Specialized Crux Elite X1.

This is my review of the bike immediately following my first ride on the bike for some cyclocross practice.

Jeremy Harris says:

I bought a Specialized AWOL which is very nice but if i had my time again I might get this. Most people don’t realize that this style of bike could be for them, because everyone is spruiking the hardcore road and MtBs. The perfect bike for a lone weekend warrior.

PuroYO says:

Got my White CX pro bike a week ago, couldn’t agree more, cx bikes are fuuuuun 😀

Andrea Crema says:

Great video, helped me make up my mind!

Digby O'Dell says:

Cyclocross bike if one is going to race. Gravel bike, with gearing to get up most of the hills for general purpose riding.

Vegan ForTheWin says:

is the 2017 model available now? do you think using standard flat peddles are ok on this bike (guess its just personal prefernce)? considering this one for some hawaii travels, better value compared to renting a car I think. . .

Rune Arn says:

Hey Mark,
Awesome video’s, I’ve watched quite a few of them 🙂 – I’ve been looking at the Crux Elite X1 (like the one you have here). I’m not going to participate in races and would use it only for commuting. I have about 25 km each way, but I’m a little concerned that the single front ring will not be enough for road only. I average about 28-29 km/h, so I’m not super fast, but on the other hand I would hate for me to spin out because of the gearing being too low 🙂
What is your take on it having ridden the bike?

CJKnight Racing says:

Could you get it to match a road bike in terms of performance with road wheels and tyres?
