Ridley X-Trail – First Ride

Ridley’s new adventure bike has enough tyre clearance to take adventurous roadies wherever they want to go. Our man Ben Delaney shares his initial impressions.

Andrew Hoffman says:

How does it compare to my favourite the GT Grade.

Denis Belyaev says:

Helicase21 says:

Did you guys review the carbon-frame model or the alloy-frame model?

sabamacx says:

How heavy is the bike ready to roll?

Phil Anderson says:

Good review, thanks.

Marcus Stone says:

If you had your choice of any gravel bike to ride which one would you chose?  Have you tried the Parlee Chebacco?

man what an epic bike would love to ride one!

sabamacx says:

I’ve been shopping around for this type of bike for a while now.

I basically want an endurance bike, but with big tyre clearances for the 1% of tiding I take offroad.

How much would I regret not getting something like a Giant Defy or Scott Solace?

Zom Biberioni says:

Danial Arif says:

I’ve ridden SPD’s (mtb clipless) since day 1 of being a roadie. With sub-1000W sprints and 220W FTP’s I don’t think there to be a real world benefit for me of going for unwalkable, single-sided road pedals. Plus, spd’s are really nice when in the dirt/mud which i get a lot of here in NorCal.

Ger says:

It has cyclocross roots (Ridley X), knowing this, spd, tyre clearance and geometry make sense. What is strange is the front gears, which targets flat roads, not race tracks.

RC 1986 says:

Hey BenWould you ride something like the dirty Kanza on this type of bike?

Joe Rickard says:

Is most of this video from Boulder County? II could have sword that looked like the edge of gold hill.

Maglia Nera says:

Colorado. another world.

Jorge Calderon says:

Great videos from this presenter.
I love the adventure bikes concept, but when I compare them, I find them not being good at anything.
Will it make more sense to use a road bike with 28mm and life with those limitation on the rough terrain (but you are getting a very light weight, good on tarmac) or going for a more mtb style of bike, Slate?, able to cope comfortably with rough terrain.

Moses Jonson says:

i love the continental road bike wheels and my preferred bike is cycloross bikes, that i have to which the carrera tanneri limited edition 2015 that i bought early last year.

Carbon Bike says:

At 1100 dollars you can’t go wrong. Great value.

They Live We Sleep says:

so it’s gravel bike then??

Umut A. says:

please review wilier zero 6

Swapnil Sudhir Kashikar says:

any good options in the 700$ range road bikes? i reside in India..

Kai Jessen says:

Almost bought one but the max rider weight of 95 kg was a let down, beeing 194cm tall 100+´kg. ( Compare it with the GT Grade that has 150 kg for example. )

rich says:

u r too much of roadie to appreciate a great gravel bike

Ian Fletcher says:

I just specced my CAADX Ultegra Exactly the same….

Michael Kokes says:

Jealous of your riding options! So much different terrain.

daan prins says:
