Sven Nys, who is due to retire at the end of the 2015/2016 ‘cross season, is a cyclocross legend. Although he’s taken just 2 world titles (can ‘just’ really apply to the quantity of world titles won?), he has won nearly every other ‘cross race there is to win, likely several times.

This year, he’s racing on board a fleet of neon yellow Trek Boones – some with discs, some without, some with single rings, some with a double chainset. In this profile we take a look at one of his ‘standard’, go-to machines; that is, one of the bikes with a double chainset and discs.

Madman5698 says:

“certain occasions”

Tony Boyd says:

I thought it was a good, well presented video by a guy who obviously knows what he’s talking about. Don’t understand all the negativity.

Ozzy says:

If I would to do Cyclocross this is one of the bikes I would go for.

GNX157 says:

Now if Tom could only learn how to correctly pronounce Bontrager, we’d be set!

Martin Giles says:

Can we have a pro CX mechanics truck video?

Gijs Jongeneel says:

Very interesting bike, isn’t it Tom?

Rusty Shackleford says:

That’s lime. you’re gay.

Pablo Castanon says:

I think you should try to stare into the sun for all of your videos in the future.

can’t wait Koksijde

Aaron Emery says:

I thought Nys was using a prototype Shimano 1x with a ground down 53 tooth ring as a chain guard? Did he switch back or are they not letting you do a full review with that since its all in test?

thechosendude says:

I don’t understand why this frame isn’t using a 142 rear axle like the disc Domane frame. With no need to worry about fast wheel swaps in cross, surely one could benefit from the extra rigidity.

Egidio De Caro says:

Nice bike! If you want to see the beauty of Italy from the handlebar of my bike, check my channel!!

Richard Tang says:

what size is the frame?

Conor Verbruggen says:

Looking at this bike, I really don’t see why any non-pro rider couldn’t just have a set of road disk wheels to pop on this and be good to go as a road bike. Might just look a bit funky with the clearance but I’d happily ride and race with it

Paul Sweeney says:

Tom Last.  GCN gurning champion 2015.

Nepo35 says:

Blimey the paint job is really bright. Even on dimmed mobile screen, its really blinding bright. But I like it.

haz zah says:

Tom is by far the best of presenters at doing “bikes”, better than the three stooges 😉

You should send Tom off to cycling museums and get him to do the same on seriously antique/retro bikes. I think he would do well reviewing a 1924 TdF bike. Get him out there doing what he is good at. His enthusiasm and saying “cool” to a 60 year old bike would work well I think.
Give him his own spot. (no this is not Tom or any relative or friend)

Great Toms pro bike video

Performance Projects says:

Test rode one of these two days ago. Absolutely fell in love with it. Great bike! Love the color on this one.

Lmfao at peeps who still use road group sets offroad.sram 1x for life

Rixter says:

Interesting the DT Swiss hubs. I would have figured they’d be Bontrager as well

klarkolofsson says:

So sick of hi-vis!

toasty bear says:

i love toms pro bikes videos- i didn’t used to like toms vids, but now i really do!! :L

Aaron Householder says:

Tom, I love you, but it’s pronounced like a ghost says, Boo, with an “N” on the end. Trek’s CX bikes are Boone & Crockett—a bit of American history, a nod to hunting.

And Bontra-gur, not “jer.” Anyhow, thanks, as always, Tom. We’ll excuse your pronunciations.

Larry Miller says:

what size frame does Sven ride?!?!

Bjarne Ritscher says:

Can anybody buy me this f****** bike 😀

Chan Kok Merng says:

you can signal planes with that…

balleur says:

Love those frames

mirceaandreighinea says:

Tom, you say “about 72cm” for saddle height.. that’s too low for Sven’s height – 1,81m . he has it about 77cm (seen many other presentations of his pro bikes).

yup, Tom is the best presenter! 😉
