SONDORS Fold Sport Video Review – $1k Folding Electric Bike, Hidden Battery, Sturdy Cast Rims The SONDORS Fold Sport is an affordable folding electric bike with sturdy cast alloy rims and four color options, clean integrated battery stays protected, internally routed cables stay out of the way, mounting points let you add fenders and a rear rack. 12-magnet cadence sensor supports six levels of pedal assist, trigger throttle offers power on demand and helps you get started, the smaller wheel size provides a mechanical advantage to the average-sized 350 watt hub motor. Entry level 6-speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain keeps the price low but still lets you climb and maintain different speeds easily compared to a single speed, the half-grip twist shifter is intuitive and comfortable to use. Plastic guide reduces chain drops, steel derailleur guard protects the shifter and motor power cables during shipping and transport, magnetic clasp keeps the bike folded, nice large LCD display is easy to read and use, upgraded ergonomic grips and gel saddle, the bike requires assembly and the headset can be tricky to install.

James Selene says:

55lbs…that’s well over that most full-size bikes. I much prefer the behind-the-seat-tube battery mounting position for folders. The down tubes just get too wide with batteries in them. Also requires so much more metal in the frame, adding weight.

Chris Till says:

Unfortunate that it has Shimano Tourney. But they are building it to a pretty affordable price. It’s still fairly impressive considering what it costs. It definitely looks more expensive than it is.
