Electric Bike Share Lime E Review Seattle

DISCLAIMER: I am a part owner of a Seattle based electric bike company. I was not paid by Limebike or my company to review the Lime E. I am just an advocate for alternative transportation and low impact lifestyle and I wanted to share my experience. Hope you enjoy and subscribe!

Limebike’s Lime E is the first bike share company to release a dockless electric bike in Seattle, Washington.

Dockless bike share companies entered Seattle last summer after the City’s program, Pronto, failed. The city of Seattle planned to release an electric bike share program but funding was cut and the plans went dead. Limebike is not the only company offering dockless electric bikes. Recently Uber partnered with Jump, a dockless bike share program with their first fleet in San Francisco.

Will these e-bikes benefit the Seattle community and be part of the answer to Seattle’s traffic?

I have ridden my regular bike around Lake Union a few times just for fun. I tried the pedal LimeBike riding from South Lake Union to Alaskan Way once. The brakes were weak on the steep downhill, and I had to push it up the same hill on the way back. Not much fun there. I also thought the pedal LImeBike was sluggish and heavy to ride, but OK if that was all you had, and certainly better than walking. But now, after seeing this video about the LIme E, I think I will give it a try, just for fun. Thanks for the detailed review.

I just seen one the other day but i only use OFO. Great review! I just may get the lime app to use the e-bikes! I love that you ride with your best friend on your back!

I miss my old e-bike i made, flying up steep hills at 25mph and getting questions at every other stop light by other bikers ahah.

My daughter tried the Lime e-bike and liked it.

FYI, that’s a Shimano roller brake – common on city bikes. Not as powerful as true disk brakes, but low maintenance and pretty bulletproof. My wife upsized the roller brake on her RetroVelo city bike – as the smaller versions are a bit overtaxed on Seattle’s hills. Thanks for the review!
