With an Ultegra groupset on a bike for just over a grand, what’s the catch…?

Bought this bike a month ago, and it’s brilliant, for the money, you can’t get better, I searched long and hard for a good bike at this price point, and the btwin was a lot better than any other bikes at this price, if you get over the fact that it’s a btwin, and not a high end brand name, then it’s a real winner, the wheels aren’t the best though, I’ll be upgrading them soon, other than that, it’s superb, really really nice to ride
I was tempted by this bike but they ruined it with the pink details. What were they thinking? It’s not just the bar tape, either.
However… just kidding, great overview! This will be my next bike in 2017, this is for sure. I’d rather ride Ultegra + Mavic Cosmic Elite on AF than 105 + Mavic Aksium on CF.
I bought the bike just below this one on B’twin’s range: the Ultra 700. It has exactly the same frame and fork (just a different color scheme, which for me, actually loks much better) and comes with 105 (with a shimano RC-500 crankset) instead of the complete Ultegra, B’twin wheels instead of Mavic cosmik, and B’twin saddle instead of the Fizik Arione. Still a pretty awesome bike, nothing to complain about it. The only thing I’m changing is the saddle. Besides, the crank is 50-34 and the cassete is 11-28, so I bet the reviewer would really like too
Nice review !
I ordered this. Can anyone say good or bad things about it, price peformance wise?

This is my next bike, just need to sell a couple of my others first.
Great direct-mount brakes (1:15) shows a picture of the front brake caliper with QR lever in (I believe) the ‘open’ (released) position. Is this a tech error or am I missing something? In all my years of riding the QR lever is always down (closed) enabling use of QR in case of puncture/wheel removal. I have never had a mechanical issue when using brakes like this. Do not understand why the brake is set like that.
If I was to get one I would be changing the rear cassette to 11-28 or 12-30, as for the crank set its actually a compact crank set (50-34) according to the decathlon web site which is a bonus. Overall I am impressed by this bike and reviews.
excellent review. Thanks
Just put a 11-32 on there. It even looks like B’twin put a long/medium cage rear derailleur on there.
The price is sick!
Hello, can this bike fit 28c tires?
He is a terrible presenter, id love to see cycling weekly become as big as GCN but the presenting is a big problem. Just some feedback, no offence intended
Where can I buy this?
Ive still got those wheels on my £4,600 Cervelo and like them. Strong and i think they’re pretty light for aluminium hoops. Also got the same gear ratios as this bike and its good enough to tackle 30% gradients. Perfect gears for fast rides.
That kit at that price is amazing
However
I am 5’10 what size should i opt for?
Where can u buy this?
Fuck mate. Get the bloke in the shop to change the cassette if it worries you that much.
Damn good review.
I’ve a question,
why is this frame approved from the uci and the mach 720 no ?
does somebody know !
I like your review – thanks. I’d love to see you review the new B’twin £800 carbon triban and maybe compare to the Btwin ultra 900 aluminium for the same price
Could you do a review of the Triban 540, especially as it’s now only £500.
