Shimano Claris, not Claris Shimano.
You should make a video talking about the top bikes for beginners. There could be one for road bikes and one for fixed gear.
25mm tires? too small. can you get 32 on there?
Can you pleeeaase do a review on the Poseidon track bike?
So you mention there being some other options at a slightly higher price point, what may those be?
I got this bike last year on black friday. I’ve put 900 miles on it this year. First road bike, moving from MTBs. The frame is incredibly stiff and responsive with no creaking. the claris shifts smoothly and when properly lubricated shifts like a dream. this has the older 2400 claris which has the ‘clothesline’ style brifters, however this older style is essentially the same aside from the cleaner look of brake cable going under the wraps. Top tube internal cable routing is a nice touch. Kendas on there are fine. The seat was not great but can be changed out easily. The Ounce cranks are fine and actually pretty stiff. The 50-39 was a concern before I bought it but with the 11-32 in the back you have a pretty wide gear ratio. IF I replace the crank I’d put a 52 on there because you do spin out of a 50 at times. My biggest gripe is while it has a 32 spoke wheelset the rear wheel is asymetrically laced so if you are over 200lbs you should probably have the rear wheel laced to a double crossed pattern if you end up popping too many spokes. The bike is rated 225lbs max, but as I stated the limiting factor is the rear wheel lacing not the frame. I had it assembled at an LBS but it was really not necessary, I did it to preserve the frame warranty. If I had it over again I’d probably just save the $75 and assemble it myself. Oh yeah the handlebar wraps are just really, really bad cheap vinyl ones so first order of business should be to get some cork wraps and replace them. There is no better bike at the price, even at the current 499 price point (I got it for 399). A 61cm frame with cages and bottles is 23.75 lbs, which is pretty darn good. As a tall guy it felt great to not be on the large end of acceptable fit for a frame, their 61 is a true xxl frame for 6’3-6’6.
